Last week the famous Spa-Francorchamps circuit turned on snow for the World Endurance Championship, who knows what might be in store for tonight’s round of the FIA World Rallycross Championship.
Rallycross was, for a short time in the 70’s quite the big sport here in Australia at both Calder in Victoria and Catalina in NSW. Peter Brock made his name at Calder in his supercharged GTR-XU1 Torana but many others including Allan Moffatt in a Cortina Mk2 of all things also competed.
Rallycross is once again big in Europe and there is a growing scene here in Australia.
The cars are amazing and really if I had my way, road racing versions of these would be fighting it out for the WTCC.
But enjoy the chaos as some of the World’s best rally drivers take part in rallying’s equivalent of T20 Cricket.
