McLaren boss Zac Brown said at Bathurst that his next great motorsport adventure would be to race his ex Garth Tander Commodore at Laguna Seca. And this weekend, that’s what he’ll do.
Brown will race the car in the Group 9 Class at the Velocity Invitational at the famous circuit against a field of classic GT cars including Porsche 997s and ex IMSA and GT1 Corvettes.
Also Brown has invited ex F1 World Champ Mario Andretti to drive a modern McLaren F1 car. Andretti is now 82 years old but still gets to drive fast including running the Indycar two seater at various events.
Also on the card, Brown will run his RS3100 Capri and there’s races for historic Trans-Am Cars both under and over 2 litres.
