Channel 31’s long running weekly motorsport program “In Pit Lane” is heading on to the track featuring in the Australian Production Car Series thanks to Melbourne competitor Nick Karadimis.
Nick’s new Falcon will show it’s support for the long running RMITV produced program and its popular YouTube channel, at Sandown Raceway this weekend (May 11-13) in the Jacuzzi Spas Australian Production Car Sandown 4 Hours.
The race will be run over the weekend as four seperate one hour races, giving the new car and it’s support for In Pit Lane, plenty of on-track and online exposure during the live stream of Sunday’s leg of the race and on the popular SBS Speedweek show.
In addition to the stickers on the windows, the car will also run the In Pit Lane logo on the on-dash display for the in-car camera.
In Pit Lane host Brett Ramsey said he was delighted for the show of support.
“Nick contacted me sometime ago and asked he he could run something on his new car as a way of showing his support for the show.
Obviously we’re thrilled to have this exposure, especially to promote the show interstate via the YouTube channel. I’m sure all of our volunteer crew at RMITV Student Television will be taking an extra interest in the car at Sandown next weekend.”
Now in it’s 22nd year, In Pit Lane is produced by an all volunteer crew and is streamed live to the In Pit Lane YouTube Channel, Facebook LIVE as well as being seen every week, free to air on Australia’s most watched Community Television station Channel 31 across Melbourne on Friday evening at 6:30PM and Saturday night at 11:30.
With ongoing uncertainty over the future of C31 due to Federal Government policy to axe Community Television, shows like In Pit Lane are attempting to ramp up their online efforts to try and survive.
While their are many advantages to screening online, the move also has many huge challenges especially in trying to obtain desperately needed sponsorship.
“Going live on the In Pit Lane YouTube Channel is great for us as it gives us enormous flexibility as well as exposure right around Australia and across the Globe” said Brett.
“But sponsors are still very focused on the traditional 30 second commercial and the audience attracted by the simplicity of conventional TV”
“If shows like In Pit Lane are to continue then we need to find a way of convincing sponsors of the benefits of online live streaming.” he said.
In Pit Lane is live every Tuesday night at 9PM AEST from the new RMIT University Media Hub and is proudly brought to you by The Australian Sports Sedan Association of Victoria presenting The Grunt Performance Victorian Sports Sedan Championship, round two, this weekend at Phillip Island.
