At a time when many companies are pulling back or leaving motorsport altogether, Drag Racing seems to faring better than most other areas of the sport. The latest announcement sees the mobile hose and fittings specialists ENZED expand its support and backing for the sport. While ENZED has been involved in various motorsport sponsorships including a long running sponsorship of Larry Perkins' V8 Supercar team, the new deal will see ENZED increase it's presence in Drag Racing through the sports increasing television profile and professionalism. ENZED will be the corporate backer of ANDRA TV's ‘Reaction Times’ package with the ENZED’s logo will now appearing on all reaction time screen shots for each drag racing category on every ANDRA Championship Drag Racing television program.

Stone Brothers Racing have announced the loss of long time sponsor JELD-WEN for the 2009 season. In a press release issued earlier today JELD-WEN Australia spokesperson Bruce Tosello said “We’ve enjoyed a great relationship with Australian motor sport through our partnership with SBR, first with Marcos Ambrose taking the championship twice and in the last three years with James Courtney.” Mr Tosello said that the company's decision to sponsor a whole car in 2005 was part of a branding exercise to introduce Australian homeowners to the JELD-WEN name. “With that job now complete, we’re headed in a different direction for 2009 so we remain fresh and competitive in the eyes of our customers.”

Out going V8 Supercars Australia CEO Wayne Cattach has admitted what many of us have known for years, the category has become boring. Speaking at the L&H 500 at Victoria's Phillip Island circuit Cattach said that the class had become a bit stale. Cattach said that V8 Supercar racing had become a bit processional over the course of the last couple of years, and as all sports inherently do, the class needed to reinvent itself.
