Sebastian Vettel has fought tooth-and-nail to come home the victor of the 2013 Malaysian Grand Prix. In a race marred by internal team tension, Vettel supposedly broke team orders to hold station behind his teammate and challenged for the lead, forcing himself past Mark Webber. 'It was obviously very close,' said Vettel of his scrap with Webber. 'Wheel to wheel racing, there wasn't much room for either of us.' 'Maybe I was a little bit too keen too soon. For sure we both enjoyed that. I'm standing in the middle [of the podium] now, so I probably enjoyed it a little bit more.' As the fighting became increasingly tense, Vettel was implored to slow down, at one point being told by team principal Christian Horner his behaviour was 'silly'. On his warm down lap, Vettel was congratulated on his team radio before being told 'there'll be some explaining to do'.

Kimi Raikkonen has scythed up the grid to take the first win of the F1 season at the Australian Grand Prix at Albert Park. Raikkonen's Lotus was only thereabouts in qualifying, starting the race from seventh on the grid. A solid start put him into the top five, and he fought his way up from there. 'I was a bit disappointed this morning after qualifying,' explained the Finn. 'It was more about timing than maximum speed for all the cars, so not an ideal starting place [in seventh].' 'I knew that my car was quite good, it was feeling good all weekend. The secret to Raikkonen's controlled victory was the Lotus' supreme tyre use, which enabled him to run a two-stop strategy. 'In a way I was very confident, but of course you have to get through the start and the first lap, and it's the first race so you never know what's going to happen. 'We got it exactly right. We followed the plan and it worked out perfectly for us. It was one of the easiest races I've done, to win the race.'

Sebastian Vettel has taken the first pole position of the year at Albert Park after rain washed out yesterday's first session. Vettel made driving in the tricky damp conditions look effortless, despite the guessing game as to when the track would be ready for slick tyres. Hamilton and Rosberg looked threatening, and the Briton set the first quick time on intermediates. Vettel, predictably, had an answer to every challenge, and responded with increasingly unbelievable lap times. Button decided to sample the supersofts and it proved to be the tyre to be on, the 2012 Melbourne winner temporarily going faster. But once the rest of the field cottoned on, the McLaren was quickly outclassed.

Sebastian Vettel has opened the 2013 season with a Friday cleansweep, topping both practice sessions comfortably at Albert Park. A truck arrived overnight filled with upgrades for his RBR9, which the team went about testing throughout the day - Vettel seeming unperturbed by the modifications being made to his car. Further down the pit lane, however, McLaren had an afternoon to forget as serious problems in the MP4-28 hampered the day's running. Speculation throughout pre-season testing that the largely redesigned McLaren wasn't up to scratch seem to be proving true, with the team struggling to understand its own new concept. McLaren team principal Martin Whitmarsh admitted that taking the team In a new direction was risky, but believed it would ultimately pay off.

Ferrari President Luca Montezemolo has launched yet another attack on F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone and the current direction of Formula One. After congratulating Sebastian Vettel and Red Bull for there 2012 victories, Mr Montezemolo went on to outline his concerns for the sport under the control of Bernie. “During the year, there were some things I did not like,” he said. “I saw cars that did not comply with the regulations, but instead of being disqualified, their teams were told to fix it for the next race. Above all, I note with regret that it is no longer possible to have a technology transfer from the track to the road, because in too many areas, development is frozen and because aerodynamics is too important, so that the cars are more and more like spacecraft and less like cars.

Kimi Raikkonen has taken the first win of his comeback in a surprisingly exciting Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Raikkonen who pulled his way up to second on the first lap after starting from fifth on the grid, inherited the lead when Lewis Hamilton stopped on track with a fuel pressure problem on lap 20. The Finn didn't have it easy, however, with the closing ten laps characterised by intense pressure from Ferrari's Fernando Alonso in second place. 'I'm happy, but there's nothing to jump about. I'm just happy for everybody in the team.' he said. It was the first win since Japan 2008 of the team based in Enstone. Alonso made up four places from his starting position for the opportunity to challenge for the win, but his late charge fizzled on the final lap, Raikkonen pushing slightly faster and evading the Spaniard's DRS reach. 'I'm very happy,' started Alonso. 'I think we were not super competitive this weekend. 'We had to fight all through the race. We had some good overtaking and very good strategy that gave us the opportunity to fight for victory. 'Second, I think, was the maximum for us today.' Most surprising, however, was Sebastian Vettel in third place, after starting from the pit lane.

Lewis Hamilton has taken a commanding pole position in Abu Dhabi to disrupt the Championship battle between Fernando Alonso and Sebastian Vettel. Hamilton posted a time of 1 minute 40.620seconds during his first run and, despite embarking on a second run at the end of the session, it was good enough to have him start from first on tomorrow's grid. 'Very excited,' said Hamilton. 'The first time in a long time to be ahead of the [Red] Bulls. Mark Webber qualified a surprise second after admitting during the week he wasn't harbouring high hopes for his weekend at a track on which he has historically under performed. 'Credit to Lewis and McLaren, it's obviously a quick car this weekend,' started Webber. 'We did the best we could. Webber may prove, much to his chagrin, an important part of his team-mate's Championship with Sebastian Vettel qualifying just a tenth behind him in third place. Vettel, however, will now have to star from the pit lane, after the Championship leader was forced to stop and abandon his car during his warm-down lap.

Sebastian Vettel has become the only man to win the Indian Grand Prix (again) to extend his Championship lead to 13 points. Vettel led off the line from pole and every lap thereafter to to take a dominant win and put one hand on the Championship - while the other pointed to signify another victory. 'It has been an incredible two years for us to come here and win the race,' said Vettel. 'I don't know what it is about this circuit, I really like the flow of it. 'Everyone is pushing hard, that's what makes the difference. 'There's a lot more (racing) to come, we're really trying to take things step by step.' Fernando Alonso - who maintains his second place in on the title table - hauled his Ferrari from fifth on the grid to second on the podium, minimising the damage done to his fast-receding grasp on Vettel's points total.
