CASTRONEVES, THE PENSKE PHOENIX RISES

Helio Castroneves ended a 30 race winless streak after winning the latest round of the Indy Racing League at Infineon Raceway. The win closed the gap at the top of the series championship table to only 43 points. Kiwi driver Scott Dixon, finished back in 12th place as Castroneves beat his Penske teammate, Australia's Ryan Briscoe, to the finish line by 5.2926 seconds.

AUDI WIN MOSPORT

Lucas Luhr and Marco Werner captured their third straight overall victory, Audi went 1-2 overall and Acura took the top two spots on the LMP2 podium for the first time since Sebring in 2007 on a thrilling day at Canada's Mosport International Raceway. Luhr crossed the finish line 21.392 seconds ahead of teammate Emanuele Pirro as Gil de Ferran ran out of fuel on the last lap while leading in LMP2. That sent Australia's David Brabham and American Scott Sharp to their fourth class victory of the season.

ALGUERSUARI HEADS CARLIN TRIFECTA

Jaime Alguersuari took his third win of the 2008 British F3 International Series season on the streets of Bucharest to keep his title hopes alive.  The Spanish Red Bull Junior driver beat Oliver Turvey and Brendon Hartley to secure the second 1-2-3 for Carlin Motorsport of the weekend . Alguersuari crossed the line 0.6 seconds ahead of Oliver Turvey and another 1.1 seconds ahead of Brendon Hartley.

BIG WEEKEND AT SUZUKA FOR NISSAN

Tsugio Matsuda and Sebastien Philippe in a Nissan GT-R have taken round 6 of the 2008 AUTOBACS SUPER GT, at Suzuka. In contrast to the intense summer heat of year's past, this year's 1000 km was under cloudy skies with rather cool temperatures. But that didn't prevent a series of upsets from the start with several machines being plagued with trouble.

Marcel Fässler and Jean-Denis Deletraz drove their Phoenix Carsport Corvette C5R to victory on the narrow city streets of Bucharest, in the first one-hour Championship race in FIA GT Championship history. Having claimed pole position during yesterday’s qualifying race, Fässler pulled away from his team-mate Hezemans, handing the car over to Deletraz with a healthy margin to take their first win of the season after three pole positions.

PENSKE FIRES BACK AT SONOMA

Team Penske teammates Helio Castroneves and Australia's Ryan Briscoe will share the front row for the third consecutive IndyCar Series race on a road/street course in tomorrow's Indy Grand Prix of Sonoma County at Infineon Raceway . Castroneves won his 26th career pole with a best lap of 1 minute, 16.9027 seconds, 107.809 mph on the 12-turn, 2.30 mile circuit. Briscoe was second just .0158 of a second behind. The duo also shared the front row at Mid-Ohio with Castroneves on the pole and at Edmonton with Briscoe on the pole.

AUDI ON TOP UP NORTH

Dindo Capello made Mosport International Raceway the fastest circuit in the American Le Mans Series with a stunning lap time of 1:04.094 (138.116 mph) in qualifying for the Mobil 1 presents the Grand Prix of Mosport. Capello smashed his own previous record at the track by 1.735 seconds, one of 10 cars to go under last year's pole time.

HARTLEY WINS IN BATTLE OF BUCHAREST

New Zealand's Brendon Hartley continued his great run in the British F3 International Series with a win in race one on the streets of Bucharest. It was Hartley's fifth win of the season. Despite the win, the Kiwi's team-mate  Oliver Turvey finished second to extend his championship lead to seventeen points over today's third placed man Jaime Alguersuari.
