Spanish digital new media outlet El Confidencial has claimed that Mark Webber has all but signed with Ferrari for 2013.
The site claims that the Australian will come to the Prancing Horse on the back of his good relationship with Fernando Alonso and their mutual managirial relationship with Flavio Briatore.
The story claims that the Australian’s signing would be a transitional phase as the team allows Mexican Sergio Perez to mature as a driver before assuming a role of great responsibility in the Italian team.
Although a contract with the Italian team is not signed yet, sources close to the team say that he may have already established a preliminary agreement to join in 2013. “It’s done”, says a confidential source quoted in the story.
Despite it’s tabloid sounding name El Confidencial is widely regarded as being a sober abd responsible news outlet with strong ties to the Spanish business world.
