ALGUERSUARI HEADS CARLIN TRIFECTA

Jaime Alguersuari took his third win of the 2008 British F3 International Series season on the streets of Bucharest to keep his title hopes alive.  The Spanish Red Bull Junior driver beat Oliver Turvey and Brendon Hartley to secure the second 1-2-3 for Carlin Motorsport of the weekend . Alguersuari crossed the line 0.6 seconds ahead of Oliver Turvey and another 1.1 seconds ahead of Brendon Hartley.

It was a tough race for the Australian pair of John Martin and Sam Abay,  Martin’s race came to a halt when the back end of his Double R Dallara stepped out, putting him into the wall at Turn 10. He had been as high as fourth.

Abay had hit the wall during qualifying on Sunday morning, leaving him down in 9th on the grid. A good start saw him gain two positions on the first lap before another mistake dropped him back down to 10th on the second lap. Abay recovered to finish 8th.

Oliver Turvey has a 12 point advantage over  Alguersuari with 42 points on offer at the last two races at Donington Park in October.  Brendon Hartley moves up to third place ahead of Sergio Perez and 20 points behind Turvey.
