HARTLEY WINS IN BATTLE OF BUCHAREST

New Zealand’s Brendon Hartley continued his great run in the British F3 International Series with a win in race one on the streets of Bucharest. It was Hartley’s fifth win of the season.

Despite the win, the Kiwi’s team-mate  Oliver Turvey finished second to extend his championship lead to seventeen points over today’s third placed man Jaime Alguersuari.

The race ended early on lap 16 after Ricardo Teixeira’s Mygale spun, blocking the track. The Angolan’s engine had stalled and Teixeira was stranded, so the red flags were deployed bringing an end to the race. The result was declared at the end of lap 15 and it was another 1-2-3 for Carlin Motorsport.

Melbourne driver Sam Abay was fifth to be the first of the Australians home with Queensland’s John Martin back in eighth.

Bahrain driver Salman Al Khalifa won in the National Class to record his first British F3 win, however Jay Bridger was all smiles as he climbed out of the cockpit of his Fluid Motorsport Dallara having wrapped up the 2008 National Class Championship.

Qualifying for Round 20 will take place at 10:45 on Sunday morning (8:45 UK time) with Round 20 due to start at 16:00 (14:00 UK time).
