An unhappy Red Bull team boss Christian Horner has criticised both Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber after their mid race crash in Turkey.
Speaking to the BBC after the race Horner said the two drivers should have given each other more room.
Vettel has denied that he was responsible for the incident despite in car footage that appeared to show him suddenly flick right and into Webber.
“Obviously, I think if you look at the pictures it was clear I had the inside,” said Vettel. “I went on the inside, I was ahead and just going down to focus on the braking point and honestly, you can see we touched and he touched my right rear wheel and I went off.”
Webber was in no doubt the his team mate probably cost him the race.
Speaking at the after race press conference Webber said it was clear that Vettel had steered into him.
“Seb had good a top speed advantage and he went down the inside. We were side by side and then looks like he turned pretty quickly to the right and we made contact,” said Webber.
Despite wide spread media support for Webber’s view clearly some in the crowd, were not convinced with a small chorus of boos greeting Webber as he accepted his third place trophy.
Horner has refused to apportion blame but seems to be more or less backing the young German.
“I’ve spoken to Sebastian, he got a run and they should never had been where they were. It’s really disappointing for the team - it’s cost them a lot of points.” he said.
“What we always ask is that the drivers give each other room,” he said. “Today neither yielded, and the result was the team losing a lot of points, Mark losing a lot of points and Sebastian losing a lot of points - the net result is everybody loses.” he said.
Everybody that is except McLaren. Oh and us, Formula One just got a whole lot more interesting again.
