In a major boost for the ACO’s new Intercontinental Le Mans Cup, Peugeot have announced that they will join Audi in committing to the new series.
The French manufacturer and defending Le Mans 24 hour champion will enter two Peugeot 908 HDI FAP racecars for the new series.
The series which aims to revive the golden days of the World Sportscar Championship will feature races in Europe, the USA and Asia.
Round one of the inaugural series will be the Silverstone 1000 in September before moving on the the Petite Le mans classic at Road Atlanta in October.
A third race is scheduled to be held in Asia in November with either Shenzhen or Shanghai in China thought to be the favoured venues.
Audi had previously committed to the new series as as Drayson racing.
Both Peugeot and Audi will contest the Spa 1000 kms race in May in their final hit out before the big one the 2010 Le Mans 24 hour race in June.
