CAMS CEO RESIGNS

<br />

The CAMS Board have announced the resignation of Graham Fountain as its CEO, effective 1 April 2010.
Mr Fountain, who came to the Confederation from the Victorian Country Fire Authority, has filled the CEO position for almost three years.
According to the statement Mr Fountain is leaving CAMS to fill another CEO position to be announced this afternoon.
In making the announcement CAMS President Andrew Papadopoulos said: “I would like to publicly acknowledge the significant contribution Graham has made to CAMS during his tenure and on behalf of the Board wish him every success in his new role.
“I would also like to reassure the organisation that the Board has already commenced the process to recruit a new high calibre CEO as a priority and will ensure the transition is managed appropriately to maintain service delivery to the members.
“I would also like to re-emphasise that the improvements underway to our organisation through an enhanced IT system and more direct contact with key stakeholders through our sport and club development service delivery model will continue to be our focus and will be delivered.”
Graham said: “My time at CAMS has been both challenging and extremely rewarding. As my first CEO appointment and in a field that was totally foreign to me and as diverse as CAMS is, I have gained a lot and grown both professionally and personally, and I thank CAMS for the opportunity it has provided me.
Mr Fountain’s tenure at CAMS has been marked by considerable administrative change and controversy.
Victorian Clubs in particular have been most critical of Mr Fountain and the behaviour of the Board.
A task force had been established by CAMS to look at issues raised by the Victorian clubs of which Mr Fountain was to be the chairman.
This move was met with great criticism by the clubs who are seeking an independent chair.
CAMS have announced that the search for a new CEO is already underway, one hopes that this time who ever takes the position will have at least a working knowledge of the complex world of motorsport and substantial professional sports administration experience.
