IT’S LOOKING BRIGHT FOR BRAD JONES RACING

Jason Bright will return to Holden with the news that he has signed on to replace Cameron McConville at Brad Jones Racing.

Bright a veteran of 145 V8 Supercar starts spent several years behind the wheel of a Commodore including a time as a driver for the Holden Racing Team.

Bright said that he is excited about the move to Brad Jones Racing.

“BJR has all the ingredients to turn it into a very strong force. Its rate of progress up the field in the last couple of years has been impressive and the changes they’ve made internally, as well as their plans for the future with engines and engineering, were all deciding factors for me.” he said.

Bright will be reunited with former race engineer Phil Keed, who is also  joining Brad Jones Racing in 2010.

Together the two formed a formidable partnership in the PWR Commodore in 2004 fighting for the Championship before a memorable crash at the Indy round ended their chances.

Bright eventually finished the year in 3rd, his best ever championship result.

Team co-owner Brad Jones said that he was thrilled to have the former Bathurst winner on board.

“It is fantastic to have a driver of the calibre of Jason Bright join the team. As a group we’re working towards being more competitive and are looking to run at the front more regularly. Jason will be a key ingredient to achieving that goal,”

Bright will join with New Zealand star Jason Richards in the team replacing Cameron McConville who announced his retirement from full time racing at the end of the 2009 season.

Bright’s first chance to drive the BJR Commodore will be at the opening test day for the 2010 season at Winton Raceway on February 8th.

Bright’s return to the General marks yet another defection for Ford, following on from the high profile switch by Triple Eight Racing and drivers Jamie Whincup and Craig Lowndes.
