SCHUMACHER BACK FOR MERCEDES GP

The most successful partnership in Formula One history is set to be reunited with the news that seven time World F1 Champion Michael Schumacher will drive for Mercedes in the 2010 World Drivers Championship.

Schumacher will again team with Ross Brawn, the man who helped the German to his incredible success throughout the late 90’s and into the new century.

According to the German newspaper “The Bild”, Mercedes GP will soon make the official announcement that Schumacher has signed with the team for one year with a further one year option.

The paper says that Schumacher will effectively be warming the seat for another fast young German star in Sebastian Vettel, who still has two years to serve on his Red Bull contract.

The return of Schumacher will no doubt be most welcome to Formula One bosses.

After a year of turmoil, and faced with the prospect of going into the 2010 season with the personality deficient wonder pom Jenson Button. Schumacher’s return will once again fuel interest in the sport ,as fans come to either watch his magic once again, or wait for him to fail spectacularly.

Despite his retirement several years ago Schumacher has never been far away from the sport.

He has raced both Karts and Superbikes, the later causing him problems after a crash which left him with an injured neck.

It was that injury that prevented him from filling in for the injured Fillipe Massa at Ferrari late in 2009.

The defection of Schumacher from Ferrari will no doubt cause great consternation among the teams loyal and rabid fans “The Tiffosi” but the prospect of a Ferrari, Mercedes, McLaren and Red Bull fight will have all F1 fans tingling in anticipation for the start of the 2010 season in Bahrain on March 12.
